The Trident of Will card comes up when it is time to think about your greater mission as a Satanist. We all know the phrase, “Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the law.” Likewise, this card is asking you to discern between a deep calling and a passing want. The Tridents are weapons of guardianship, but they are also representative of keys. This Trident is a key to the heart and the flow of deep subconscious emotions.

Take the time to feel the tides within you. What pulls you? How does it make you feel? Where do you most strongly hear Satan’s voice? Trust your heart at this time, and pay attention to your emotions. Be mindful of any feelings directing how you move. Remember you choose which direction you swim. Know when to breathe and when to hold your breath.

Reversed: unalignment, psychic or emotional overwhelm, a need to search inward for purpose, or Satan has already given you the answer.

The Trident of Will guards the distinction between the Satanist's true desires and her whims.

🜂 FORCE

Element: Fire
Directional Daemon: Abaddon

The Trident of Force challenges you to be your own source of power. All fire needs fuel. Knowing what feeds your Flame is the foundation of your power. Some believe that power means extinguishing the flames of others, but this is an act of ultimate weakness. True strength and power come from the Force of self-control and self-mastery. Fire is warm, inspirational, beautiful, but it can be easy to lose control over it. Sometimes you want it to lose control.

This card is shows up when it is time to put your power to good use. Your energy is not depleted, but it may to be course-corrected. Anger may be driving you, frustration trapping you. It’s time to find an appropriate outlet for your fire. Alternatively, you may have dimmed your flame or repressed parts of yourself to make way for the force of others. This Trident offers you an opportunity to create from the ashes of what hasn’t been serving you. Be careful how you use this power, as it’s easy to get burned.

Reversed: victimhood or being victimized, denial of rage, distractions, lack of direction

The Trident of Force de-glamorizes Satanic strength and its responsiblities.

🜁 SPIRIT

Element: Air
Directional Daemon: Pazuzu

This card appears when it’s time to trust your intuition and knowledge. When you’re bombarded with lots of overwhelming information, Spirit is asking you to slow down and listen to your inner voice. That is, take a deep breath and look at things objectively. Don’t try to seek answers right away. Trust that they will come. You won’t hear if you don’t listen. You have been receiving signs, so don’t ignore them. This card’s artwork features storms of lightning, representing rapid stimulating currents–much like neurons firing in the brain. The hurricane and the eye of the storm represent clarity amidst chaos.

Reversed: blocked throat chakra or communication issues, mind fog, psychic blocks, with card 41 (Void Sun) there is a need for silence and stillness

The Trident of Spirit explores the mysteries of existence and consciousness.

🜃 FLESH

Element: Earth
Directional Daemon: Behemoth

This card portrays the element of Earth with molten lava becoming fertile life-bearing soil. When our needs are met, we thrive. Warmth, nutrition, and cooling down are all essential to growth. Whatever you have been neglecting, this card is a reminder to tend to it. This may be for yourself, your home, or someone/something in your care. This card is also about bringing one’s Will into reality by living and embodying it with Force.

Reversed: lack of material resources, physical needs must be a priority, financial worries, querent may need more rest or more physical activity, depending on surrounding cards.

The Trident of Flesh restores the sacred rights of the body, nature, and the Earth, which have been demonized by false representations of Spirit.

IRON

Iron is an element found all over the universe: from nebulae and stardust, to deep within the Earth’s core, to the blood rushing through our veins. The iron our hearts pump through our bodies keeps us alive; carrying nutrients throughout the body. When the blood doesn’t flow, there are problems. Similar to the chakra system, the Infernal Iron Pentagram unifies the mind, body, and spirit. Each point on the Pentagram has its own significance, and its own correspondence to the human body and the head of the Beast. (You can learn about each of these points with the next five cards.)

When this card appears, it is a reminder to stay aligned and centered. There may be some obvious blocks to work through –check the surrounding cards (especially numbers 1-5) for clues about your current strengths and weaknesses. If you know how to run Infernal Iron, it is a good time to do so. This card is reminding you to check in on the different parts of yourself. Your personal hierarchy of Daemons is here to help you gain clarity. You may not realize it, but the spirits we work with often reflect different aspects of who we are. Take time to recalibrate and balance. Whatever is blocked is about to be cleared, so be ready.

The Pentagram of Infernal Iron represents the harmony of different aspects of materialized being. Sex, Pride, Self, Power, and Passion flow into each other through the body of Man an the head of the Beast.

1 SEX

Guide: Lilith
Celestial Powers: Black Moon, Earth
Iron: Head of Man, Mouth of the Beast

Sex is much more than reproduction and pleasure. In the Infernal Iron Pentagram, the point of Sex lives in the head of Man, and the mouth of the Beast. The unholy blessings of Lilith enflame this card, those of autonomous pleasure and love of one’s own existence. Here, Sex represents the vitality of one’s own magicks and the ability to manifest desires. This card connects our minds back to our bodies, reminding us what it really feels like to be present for ourselves.

The card of Sex also invokes the potential for connection – but be warned that unions of Sex can be fleeting. A connection does not make a commitment. Focus instead on the pleasure of your own company and how those blessings connect you to the Universe. Your primal creative power is the key of agency; opening the door to your spiritual and bodily liberation. Now is the time to express yourself through ecstatic bliss and radical sensuality. Embrace your inner beauty with love and protect it viciously.

Reversed: Misalignment between mind and body. Dissociation through sexual activity. Repressed expression. Addiction. Using sexuality to avoid intimacy.

The atmosphere explodes with the erotic creative magick summoned by ecstatic dance. The dancing Satanist is electrified by the sensual energies erupting from their body and spirit.

2 PRIDE

Guide: Lucifer
Celestial Powers: Sun, Uranus
Iron: Right foot of Man, right horn of Beast.

Pride is the inverse of shame. Shame is taught through social conditioning based on what is “right” and “wrong.” By contrast, Pride is the liberation of authenticity – unafraid of social punishments. The act of Pride is a commitment to to personal freedom. This Infernal Iron is awakened in the right foot of Man and the right horn of the Beast. Appropriate, as having Pride allows you to put your foot forward and charge.

This card is reminding you to stand in who you really are and what you want to offer to the world. Be unshakeable in the honor you feel just by virtue of being your Self.

Reversed: Fear of being perceived. Shame holding back joy and growth. Arrogance. Insecurity. Performatively boastful or humble.

The sky is bright with potential, but the black heart of the Satanist is brighter with the absence of shame. A black halo encircles their head, signifying Hellish confidence.

3 SELF

Guide: Astaroth
Celestial Powers: Venus, Pluto
Iron: Left hand of Man, left ear of Beast

Self is the Infernal Iron in the left hand of Man, and the left ear of the Beast. It can be difficult to see oneself outside of the worldly labels and their respective identities assigned to a person. We all have them, and these identities and labels are certainly part of our experiences, but what is the Self? More importantly, when these identities are stripped back, what is left? Inevitably, Self reminds us to examine who we show up for others and ourselves. Tapping into the magick of Astaroth can help you understand the true value you bring to your world.

Our true Selves are complete and whole; even without context. Self is showing up in your reading to remind you that you are more than the sum of your experiences and the words that describe you. It may be time to seek silence and solitude in order to hear your inner truth.

Reversed: A cluttered mind and/or fragmented self-image. A need for both solitude and deeper social connections. A personal transformation may be on the horizon of difficult self-work.

The Satanist’s thoughts, feelings, and identities are like branches stemming from their consciousness. In their true reflection, they find their roots. In the dead of winter, there are no leaves, nor fruit, but roots always remain.

4 POWER

Guide: Belial
Celestial Powers: Mars, Mercury
Iron: Right hand of Man, right ear of Beast

Power is often misunderstood as the ability to dominate others. While domination requires submission (another party giving up power) or oppression (systematically taking power away from another party), true Power can empower both oneself and others. Our Power is about what we are able to do and how we are able to do it. This is the seat of our strength; the bridge between wanting and having.

The most important thing to know about your power is how to use it. Be wise about how, where, and with whom your Power is distributed. There is no action without consequence. There is no karmic law but classic cause and effect. Some outcomes cannot be avoided, but in times when the only way out is through, your Power is your vehicle. The Infernal Iron of this card lives in the right hand of Man, and the right ear of the Beast.

Reversed: Avoiding responsibility. Feeling drained or discouraged. Relying on dominance for survival. In cases of abuse, this is a warning to get help as soon as is safe.

The Satanist stands on the liminal shores. Strength and potential burn through their aura as they prepare to step into the water; confident that their flames will stay lit.

5 PASSION

Guide: Asmodeus
Celestial Powers: Jupiter, Neptune
Iron: Left foot of Man, left horn of the Beast

Passion‘s Infernal Iron resides in the left foot of Man and the left horn of the Beast. It is the will to not only live, but thrive. Passion is intensity of both positive (attracting) and negative (repelling) emotions. It can bring two people together and rip them apart just as easily. It is all-consuming and cannot help but interrupt the even flow of logic. Endorphins flood the body and energy pulses from spirit. Passion keeps life unpredictable and exciting – for better or for worse.

It’s time to push boundaries. Examine some of the ways you have been restricting yourself that you are ready to release. Is there something you want to do, but keep stopping yourself? Why? It would be unwise to allow Passion to always hold the reins, but never underestimate the wisdom and clarity it can bring. This energy reveals neglected desires and demands they be addressed.

Reversed: Monotony. Restlessness. Frustration with a pattern or routine. Repressed or uncontrollable rage. Addictive substances.

In the bright twilight, the Satanist’s spirit leaps between the elements – land and sea, ground and air, light and darkness, water and fire. Their Black Flame extends from the Satanist’s heart center in such magnitude that it burns around their enlarged aura.

6 CREATIVITY

Guide: Vapula
Celestial Powers: Venus, Mercury

Creativity is the ability to innovate and invent. The creative process is often fun, but it can also be extremely challenging or even painful. When humans had more direct relationships with the spirits of creative inspiration, (who the Athenians called dæmons) there was a lot less pressure on the artist. If the artist lacked inspiration or had a creative block, it was the dæmon who was considered at fault. The artist was at the mercy of the spirit’s whims and timing. Perhaps if Van Gogh were more patient with his dæmon, he might have saved an ear!

This card is here to challenge you ability to construct something new or do something in a brand new way. You might want be learning a new skill or rekindling an old one. Either way, you are being asked to stretch yourself just a little bit further. You’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish! Invoking Vapula will help you develop the hands-on skills you wish to master.

Reversed: Writer’s block. A pattern of thought needs to be changed. In art or business, the need to do something completely new. Relying too much on others’ ideas.

The Satanist balances between rainbows upon the planet Mercury in a challenging asana (yoga pose) as lightning of inspiration strikes. The Satanist’s perspective is broadened as their black halo pushes outward. Simultaneously, the Satanist is insulated in their own zone of expression; transmuting raw energy into form.

7 DESTRUCTION

Guide: Abaddon
Celestial Powers: Mars, Uranus

Destruction is the process of taking something apart. We often hear the word “destruction” and think of a very dramatic and quick demolition. However, Destruction can also be a slow, eroding process. This process can be violent or gentle. It is the process of unmaking.

This card appears when something needs to be dismantled. It may be something you do not want to let go of, or is difficult to face. This gentle butterfly is here to warn you that if you don’t take charge of your changes, other forces will. Invoke Abaddon to take control of how you handle your “fall” – or perhaps you’re the one knocking things down.

Reversed: Self-destructive behavior. Learned helplessness. Resisting change will make things worse. Drama.

A delicate stroke of a butterfly’s wing is the tipping point needed to shatter a false reality. Chaos unleashes to clear a path for dramatic change. It is amazing how even the smallest amounts of pressure can accumulate such damage.

8 SHADOW

Guide: Leviathan
Celestial Powers: Moon, Pluto

Shadow is the hidden reflection of Self. It slithers in the waters of our unconscious just out of sight. The Shadow is a shapeshifter. Each time it is perceived, it changes form. It is the mask worn to protect the most vulnerable parts of an individual’s psyche. Knowing the Shadow means dancing back and forth with denial. It is a true acceptance that there will always be something unknown.

Pay attention to the unconscious patterns in your life. Under what circumstances does your Shadow show up? Notice how your Shadow is trying to protect you in those moments. Integrating your Shadow means accepting a hidden part of Self and making room for it to productively grow with you on your journey.

Reversed: Denial. Dissonance. Falsely believing one is enlightened. Projecting one’s issues onto others.

Watery eyes search for truth between two serpents. The serpent above reflects the serpent below. The answers are deep within the water, and skin must be shed to tread it.

9 SCAPEGOAT

Guide: Azazel
Celestial Powers: Saturn, Earth

Long ago, people used to send goats out into the wilderness. These scapegoats were said to carry the sins of the people as a sacrifice to Azazel. A Scapegoat is blamed for sins they did not commit. Throughout history, different groups of people have been cultural scapegoats. The witch trials and the Satanic panic are prime examples of how groupthink dissolves into scapegoating even the most innocent of individuals. It can be terrifying the lengths some will go to never face their own sins.

Be careful not to take on responsibilities which do not belong to you. You might feel like other people’s actions are your fault, but as your self what you really have control over. We are all responsible for our actions, reactions, and inaction. Azazel is here to help you release burdens you need not carry. Protect yourself from those who would take advantage of you or blame you for their failures.

Reversed: Blaming someone else for your actions. Misplaced blame. Martyr complex. Bigotry and prejudice.

The little goat is exiled after being struck with many arrows. Archers force him forward into the dangerous depths of the wilderness. There is no turning back. Each arrow represents a sin of Man, but the burden – and the blame – is placed upon the Beast.

10 PACT

Guide: Lucifuge Rofocale
Celestial Powers: Moon, Saturn

Contrary to portrayals in Hollywood, making a pact with a Daemon is hardly a quick and easy fix to any problem. An effective and honorable Pact requires communication, planning, a worthy payment, and commitment. The most important thing is knowing what you actually want. This is the most overlooked aspect of Daemonic pacts, and yet it is usually the crux at which a folkloric hero makes a fatal mistake. “Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it.”

It’s time to make a real plan to achieve what you want. Lucifuge Rofocale can help you navigate the unpredictable on your journey to success. Understand that any pact you undertake should be a respected contract between you and the other party. In matters of business, any contracts must be precise and well-understood. If you’re chasing a big dream, it’s time to make an actionable plan to which you can commit. Great things can be accomplished with the right plan and follow-through.

Reversed: Unrealistic expectations. Wanting and wishing without taking action. An existing commitment needs your attention or needs amending.

Three tridents surround the contract signed in blood. One stands out above the others as it burns with black fire. The choice has been made. The compact has been accepted.

11 QLIPHOTH

Mystery: The initiate eats the fruit of knowledge and descends into Hell.
Celestial Powers: Pluto, Sun, the Void

In opposition to the Qabbalistic Tree of Life, the Qliphoth make up the Tree of Death, or Tree of Knowledge. The Life Tree unifies the initiate with the false god, while the Qliphoth lead the initiate to self-deification. Connecting the Qliphoth (fruit of the Tree) are the Tunnels of Set (branches of the Tree), which are twenty-two paths which correspond with the Major Arcana of the Tarot. Each Qlipha and each Path between have a ruling Daemon Who presents a trial to the initiate, which they must pass to continue.

The Qliphoth card is here to remind you to look at the bigger picture. You are more capable than you know. There is a long journey ahead with many challenges. If you have initiated through all of the Qliphoth, know that this is just the beginning.

Reversed: Delaying Qliphothic initiation. Inversely, needing to revisit a particular Qlipha. Lack of faith in one’s own abilities. Untapped/unused potential.

The forbidden Tree of Knowledge – or Tree of Death – lays the map to escape the influence of the demiurge and all of its illusions. Dangerous trials await… as well as enticing rewards. The Tunnels of Set burrow deep into the Hells of the psyche and out of the delusion of Eden.

12 SECT

Omen: A coven's strict dogma distracts Satan's children from their Will.
Celestial Powers: Saturn, Mars

The Sect represents repeating patterns which were meant to be broken. In a literal sense, this card speaks to the issue of Satanic sects and orders making the mistake of “reverse-Christianity,” and/or dogmatic groupthink. It is easy to spot vileness in others, but a challenge to confront the same toxicity in one’s immediate circle or within oneself. Stepping onto the path of Satan is an individual choice. Coven or solitary, no person or group should come between Satan and His children.

It is time to revisit why you stepped onto this path in the first place. Examine if the people in your close circles actually help or hinder your purpose. If you join a group, ask yourself, Does this group really honor its own purpose? How about its founding principles? Does the actions of this group and its members exemplify its values? Similarly, ask yourself if you are truly honoring your Satan’s Will for you through your own choices and actions.

Reversed: Conformity. Tradition going unquestioned. Blasphemy taking focus away from the love of Satan. Unchecked hypocrisy. Stockholm syndrome. Cult-like, or “sheeple,” behavior.

A parish is converted into a blasphemous church, yet the energies of the enemy have remained in more subtle forms. The altar room is stuffy and pious. The stench of holy water still lingers in the condensation dripping down stained glass.

13 GRAVE MASTER

Guides: Master Qayin, Señor la Muerte, Unholy Ancestors
Celestial Powers: Earth, Pluto

The Grave Master is a Grim Reaper. He harvests the souls whose time on Earth is done. He weaves powerful magick through the invisible necromantic currents all around us. Master Qayin is the first Satanist, and He may come to the querent as a powerful infernal ancestor. In Anticosmic Satanic belief, it is through His line that a second race parallels the race of Adam. He is a guide for navigating the Tree of Knowledge and a great teacher of folkloric spell casting.

Grave Master is Death Himself, and Death – like Birth – is simply a fact of Life. The Master is an omen of great transformation, but one for which the Satanist must be the catalyst. The Mighty Dead can offer much wisdom – so that we do not have to make the same mistakes. Death teaches us how precious Life is. There is no need to dread change, as change is a part of living, and all living eventually meets Death. Connect deeper with the currents of Death around you, the hidden ancestors just under your nose. Ancestors are not limited to those in our physical bloodline, but anyone whose lives and deaths had to happen for us to be here. This can be cultural, spiritual, and based in marginalized identities. Grave Master shows us that though we may feel completely alone and isolated, we are in fact part of something much greater and older. You come from somewhere. Even if you have no children, there will be others who come after you.

Reversed: Resisting change. Fear of death or being cursed with death. Disconnection from community. A warning to reinforce protection magick and other harm-reduction measures, especially if near card 23 (Curse).

The Master of the Graveyard stands tall amongst the tombstones. His bloody scythe radiates with the power of the shades of the cemetery. The Master oversees all the shades who sail the River Styx. He holds all the wisdom of the dead, bestowing the Satanist with necrosophic gnosis and witchcraft long-forgotten by the living.

14 LOST TEMPLE

Mystery: The Satanist rekindles sacred space in an unlikely location.
Celestial Powers: Moon, Venus

The Lost Temple is a monument to decadence and decay. A once opulent display of wealth is now marked with the hieroglyphics of youth, economic struggle, and addiction. What was once inaccessible is now available to all. Some might see this as a bad thing – a once beautiful shrine now littered with needles, trash, and graffiti – but the Satanist recognizes the beauty in the transformation.

Lost Temple is the place of where you realize something you longed for has always been within reach. This Temple is here to facilitate your Great Work. It is time to make your own sacred space using what is available to you. The occult world is full of classist ideals of what it means to be sacred. As Satanists, we are not embarrassed to be resourceful. We can create beauty where others have overlooked.

Reversed: Comparing material conditions to others. Being too focused on lack. Money is not as big an obstacle as you currently believe. Altars and ritual space may need cleansing and care.

Guided by a strange star, the Satanist discovers a lost temple. The abandoned shrine stands alone in the quiet woods. Its walls are tagged with graffiti and its floors are covered in broken glass and the occasional pest. At first glance, its easy to judge as neglected or disrespected, but the Satanist recognizes the sacred in the profane.

15 GNOSIS

Mystery: Secrets unfold like kaleidoscopes of paradox.
Celestial Powers: Mercury, Neptune

Personal Gnosis is spiritual knowledge gained through experience in one’s individual practice. Whether one’s Gnosis is “verified” or not, it still has value. In contrast with the Sect card, Gnosis is telling you to listen to your own spiritual knowledge over any religious authority.

Now is the time to trust your own spiritual expertise. Consult your own magickal and spiritual records before taking anyone else’s advice to heart. A lot of general spiritual advice is unhelpful, irrelevant, or even harmful to the devout Satanist. Trust in your own connection with Satan above all else. If near card 19, a spiritual breakthrough is on the horizon.

Reversed: Spiritually inflexible. Armchair occultism. Relying on spiritual institutions and magickal orders instead of personal experience, especially if near card 12. Ignoring intuition or neglecting devotional practice.

The vision comes forth through the image of the Baphomet – the avatar of the Adversary within and with-out. Known images twist into unknown forms. Daemonic messages materialize as personally sacred cryptolects and ciphers.

16 SPY

Omen: Forces are trying to disrupt the Satanist's destiny.
Celestial Powers: Planetary Retrogrades, Void-of-Course Moon

The Satanist must be vigilant, as the demiurge will send spies. Not all are as obvious as the eyeball-spangled snitches the false god uses for surveillance. Sometimes the Spy comes in the form of a coworker, neighbor, or a coven infiltrator. This card appears when you must be careful who you trust.

Spies carry the Envy Eye – a dangerous curse that hinders one’s connection with their destiny and can even escalate to illness. When this card shows up, it is a warning to be careful what you choose to share with others – as you don’t always know who is watching or to whom they report. Consult Lord Satan for guidance and protection when searching for trustworthy allies. When in doubt, remember the Satanic power of silence.

Reversed: The curse of Envy Eye may be present. An enemy has gotten too close. Deception from a saboteur. Reciting the Lord’s Prayer in reverse, and doing a Satanic cleansing ritual is needed.

The hideous angel eavesdrops from the clouds. It hides its face, because it is shame manifested. Like a drone, it has no Will, no desires. It’s only purpose is to watch. Allowing it to watch you will cost you much more than your soul.

17 EXODUS

Mystery: He was hardly "cast down..." Rather, with enthusiasm, He leapt.
Celestial Powers: Uranus, Pluto

Lucifer’s fall is described as an event of shame for the Rebellious One. What if this assumption is wrong? After all, He and His fellow defectors were dissatisfied with authority. Perhaps this “fall” was much more like a walk-out. An Exodus of legions, emigrating in search of a new start.

Sometimes, realizing you do not belong is a good thing. In those cases, the best gift you can give yourself is walking away. Hanging on too tightly to a toxic environment will only get worse the longer you stay. Often, being the first to leave a difficult situation or high control group is challenging and perhaps even dangerous. When one leaves, others tend to follow. One brave act can give others courage.

Reversed: Fear of abandonment. Overstaying in a dangerous place or with dangerous people. Sacrificing too much for a group or cause that will destroy you.

Disgusted with the rule of heaven, the first Diver proudly takes the plunge into the Unknown Below. His black halo reminds Him that He is capable of starting anew. He has known very little outside of heaven, so He is amazed to find a beautiful little planet beneath the crack in heaven’s floor; abandoned by the tyrannical demiurge long ago. Behind the first Diver, others follow Him, trusting in the new world they are about to build.

18 BLACK BAPTISM

Mystery: From the ashes of shame arises a proud phoenix.
Celestial Powers: Neptune, Uranus

The Black Baptism refers to a ritual performed to renounce old beliefs in order to walk Satan’s path. Many of us are baptized into false religion without our consent, signing our souls away to its collector. The Black Baptism is about reclaiming your soul for yourself. Contrary to popular belief, Satan has no desire to “buy” anyone’s soul. (You’re thinking of the other guy.) Lord Satan demands that we take full ownership of ourselves. To claim what is ours, we must destroy the bonds which keep us suppressed.

What are some old beliefs that you no longer need? Examine what prior conditioning has kept you trapped, and sever your connection with it. Once that is done, focus your attention on something that fuels your soul. When this card appears, it’s time to let go of the bullshit and embrace what truly matters.

Reversed: Self-limitation. Clinging to beliefs and systems which do not serve you. If near card number 16, beware the past trying to drag you back in. If near cards 12 and/or 17, it is a warning to leave a toxic group and cut all ties.

The Satanist leans into the cold air of the sea, whispering renouncements of false religions. Their head tilts upward and their body extends as they feel their soul rushing back to them. Through Lord Satan’s unholy blessings, the Satanist is liberated. Their chains are broken. As a result, their Black Flame blazes with the Hellish miracle of reclamation.

19 ILLUMINATION

Mystery: "We look down on those Above."
Celestial Powers: Sun, Jupiter

Prayer in Satanism is not about begging for something you want, but instead a consistent communication with Lord Satan. The Sanctuary represents a sinister sacred space. This can represent our physical altars as practitioners and devotees. More importantly, Sanctuary represents the altar within. When the world outside is harsh and difficult, we find our center. It is here that we hear the voice of Satan. Many Witches and Diabolists have lived through the trauma of having our physical altars destroyed. Those of us who have been through that had to learn that our strength and connection to Satan comes from our inner Black Flame.

This card shows up in a reading to remind you of what truly matters. It is often too easy to compare oneself to others – creating a feeling of lack. Being who you truly are and aligning with your true purpose isn’t about the size or grandeur of your temple, but the foundation of your spiritual practice. This card is here to tell you it’s time to come home to your Self. Take time to visit your inner altar. If near card number 19, your Holy Daemon is eager to give you a message.

21 ALGOL

Algol is nicknamed “the Demon Star,” and is in the eye of Medusa (referred to as her “winking eye”) within the Perseus constellation. This star is associated with chaos and calamity. This star is one of the fixed Behenian stars, fifteen stars believed to control the behaviors of the planets. Thus weaving fate. This star is feared, as it is a foreteller of destruction and in extreme cases, decapitation. As gruesome as Algol can be, she is also a fierce protector. Astrological elections aspecting Algol are perfect for creating incredibly strong protection talismans.

This card calls upon the misunderstood powers of Medusa. If focused in the right direction, your anger can turn your fears and enemies to stone. Destruction and trauma are almost always out of your control. The Demon Star is here to restore your power and attention back to what is within your influence. The very forces within you which you believe to be working against you might actually be your greatest allies.

This card’s artwork is a direct reference to the climactic scene in the film adaptation of El Club Dumas by Arturo-Perez, better known as The Ninth Gate.

Destiny is not just something that is granted to you. You have to rise to the occasion. If you want something, you must work for it, search for it, make room for it in your life. The truth is, each is responsible for their own Destiny. Nothing is owed to anyone. Everything must be earned.

When you have completed all of the necessary trials, the rewards are yours. Satan keeps His promises. If you do the same, you will reap the benefits. What you desire is closer than you think.

Reversed: Focusing too much on short-term. Needing to see the bigger picture. Facing necessary trials which seem as barriers to success.

After a treacherous quest of danger and trickery, the Satanist has passed the final test and approaches the mysterious chateau. A strange dawn illuminates the infernal gateway like a sunrise in Hell.

23 CURSE

Omen: A baneful spell hits its target.
Celestial Powers: Pluto, Mars

Baneful magick is often painted in a petty or immature light. Greater society preaches some version of “turning the other cheek,” but this is not the way of the witch. Baneful magick, like all magick, is a tool. It is neither good nor evil. More often than not, it is a last-resort rather than an unwarranted attack. After all, what good is magick if you can’t fight back?

A score is about to be settled. Be careful which battles you fight and which weapons you wield. If you know what you’re doing, it may be time to remember you have a bag of tricks. If you choose not to wield a curse, so be it. Just know your enemies will not likely be as noble.

Reversed: Unnecessary energy wasted on pettiness. Need for cleansing rituals. Protection wards should be reinforced. Generational curses emerging in life through events and people.
